Taming of the Brew
Realistic Alternatives to Drinking and Drug Abuse on Campus
Having grown up with an alcoholic parent, it took me until I entered college to discover Al-Anon , counseling, journaling and the benefits of all three modalities. Through my own bouts with alcohol and drug use in college, I discovered that having a keen sense of humor, help me become more open to change. This was key in helping me survive, strive and succeed in school.
I've spent the past ten years interviewing hundreds of college student and administrators in my travels to campuses around the U.S. and in Canada. I've gathered my information through a series of anonymous questionnaires to students.
Schools have wide varied drinking policies from the very strict dry campuses with "presence policies" to the campuses that allow fraternities and sororities to have keg parties without supervision.
