About Gail Hand
Gail Hand, tagged sheina madela sugarpuss by her Grandmother Lottie, was reared on both coasts. With roots in New York, California, and Oregon; Gail has been sharpening her humor and wit across the U.S. and Canada since 1993.
Gail has logged 20 successful years in Corporate Sales & Management with Corporations such as American Express, Southwestern Bell, Macy*s, and several gourmet cookware manufacturers garnered Gail 3 rookie of the year awards, 10 leadership awards, and a strange award for a pet multimedia presentation.
Gail, now a Corproate Humorist; started her stand-up career in 1989 in San Francisco and has since toured over 500 Companies, Universities & Asociations in the U.S. and Canada. With her 'power of laughter' programs including; leadership, alcohol and drug awareness, stress management, and diversity trainings Gail has been a positive movement on college campuses and companies in North America.
Gail premiered her one woman show: "Hello Bubbela" in December 2005, a poignant and humorous homage to, her larger than life small Bronx matriarch, Grandma Lottie Hand. In her first book: The Power of Laughter: Seven Secrets to Living and Laughing in a Stressful World, Gail shares her humor with the world on using laughter to deal with stressful situations. By offering her unique, real life snapshots of life living in a body cast for a year in high school, combined with other poignant illustrations of the power of laughter, Gail drives her message home.
Gail is both a Certified Laughter Leader with the World Laughter Tour, and a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher with Laughter Yoga International. Gail is past President of the Oregon National Speakers Association, a member of the Association for Applied Therapy on Humor, National Association of Campus Activities, Canadian Oreganization of Campus Activities, Association of College Unions International and she also holds a frequent wash card for her dogs at Beauty for the Beast.
Gail has been featured on AM Northwest, KHON TV, Lifestyles Northwest, The Hollywood Star, Multnomah News, Just Out, Curve Magazine and Margie Boule's Living Column in the Oregonian. The media has highlited her work producing laughter therapy clubs in over 250 Companies, Universities, and Senior facilities in the past four years in the U.S. She has also been quoted in Women's Health and Fitness magazine as a humor advocate, and appeared on numerous radio programs from Portland to Boston.
In her spare time this past winter Gail started a women's speakers bureau called; Insightful Women Speakers where she features her "hand picked" expert colleagues from the Health and Wellness, Business and Performing Arts fields.
Her new book; Dog Scoop is slated to be published this summer. The book features Hand's dog photography accompanied by inspirational quotes.
