Being the optimistic Motivational Humorist I am, this economy is enough to make even me anxious and crazy! As I do my own marketing it is very apparent that sometime's layoffs happen and it's just business, it's not personal.
So what is it that you can do to keep your remaining employees happy during this recession?
Here are a few ideas:
1) Recognize your existing employees for their work. You can reward them by letting them come in to work an hour later on Monday or take an extra half hour for lunch. This may seem small but it is a reward none the less.
2) Post a white board in the break room. Ask your employees questions about recent trivia. This may keep their mind off whether or not they will be on the next hit list and feel more secure with being part of a cohesive team.
3) Spend some time on Health and Wellness for your group. Attend a laughter class where you live and bring some exercises back to your office. There are certified laughter leaders, and laughter yoga leaders in your city or nearby who will come in for a brown bag lunch at a very affordable price.
4) Spend some more money on training. This shows your employees you want to invest in their future, which will of course ease their tension and aid them in being more productive.
