Are you happy at your job?

Forget your trouble's, comon get happy....I can't get no, job satisfaction...songs?  Yes and all written about today in the Washington Post article on job satisfaction in America.

Here are three things you can do today to be happier at work:

1) Smile - Your brain doesn't know the difference between a fake smile or a real smile- both help release negativity in your brain.

Grandma Lottie a big fan of Tiger Woods, warned him not to cheat!

Some of you may or may not be familiar with my alter ego Lottie, inspired by my larger than life Grandmother who lived in the Bronx for many decades.  Lottie has an opinion about everything and loved the fact that she had her own cameo's in my comedy shows for over 15 years nationally.  I even wrote a one woman show about our relationship as it was comical and poignant.

Is Excessive Happiness an ISSUE for you?

Please enjoy this great video gift from The Onion.  This video is not for you if you are not hip to sardonic, sarcastic humor and are not a fan of creatively making fun of today's CNN media "alerts".  Note they do use the "F" word towards the end, but it is used appropriately, I should know growing up in NY !!

Enjoy,

Gail

How are you Boosting Employee Morale in the office today?

There are so many things we can do to boost employee morale in the office that are low or no cost!

The first suggestions I have is to show appreciation to every employee, no matter where they are on the company ladder.  Let staff know you take pride in them and their efforts. Make a fuss over success - acknowledge their successes openly.

Boosting Emloyee Morale the Southwest Airlines Way

I love flying Southwest Airlines. It's affordable, very efficient, the staff is awesome and the experience is fun!!  In this blog I wanted to share an article that the Chairman, President, and CEO Gary Kelly of SWA wrote about his company in Spirit Magazine.  This company philosophy rocks and we all may want to consider following suit, your employees happiness depends on it!

The MEA knows how to laugh!

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of over a hundred wonderful women at the Michigan Education Association annual Ladies Day in Michigan.  After touring most of the state of Michigan because the main highway was closed due to a bridge shifting; I arrived in East Lansing a few hours later and with no tickets- so typical of travel these days!

Portland named #1 most depressed city by Business Week

As a proud citizen of Portland and service to our beautiful Rose City I have created a website called:  Portlandisnotdepressed.com

The website suggests some great ideas to help combat this statistic and offer laughter events to help combat any depression that our Portlanders are feeling these days.

It is true that many of us would like to drop this ranking next year and focus on our finer points, many shown on this new site.

Boosting Employee Morale during Layoffs

Being the optimistic Motivational Humorist I am, this economy is enough to make even me anxious and crazy!  As I do my own marketing it is very apparent that sometime's layoffs happen and it's just business, it's not personal.
